ITU-H.26L Videocodec part of MPEG4 in 2003 -

has started talking with the video
compression group inside ITU for joint compression development. Output
from this joint venture would result in a new part to the MPEG-4 standard,
to be finalized in early 2003. It will become part of the MPEG-4 framework.

starts RealVideo 9 with new 
features as multi-channel audio for streaming or other playback. Starting
at bitrates form 44 kbps audio, the new RealAudio Surround codec with
multi channel support can be embedded in conventional surround sound audio.
Realvideo 9 also claims to be HDTV Ready and to
support all formats and resolutions. It supports Interlaced Material as
well as 60 fields per second playback on TVs. A preview Version of RealProducer
9 can be downloaded as commandline utility. more

Pro 5.0 includes psychovisual 
modeling, bi-directional encoding (B-frames), global motion compensation,
and quarter pel. DivX Pro claims to be fully MPEG-4 compliant, and is
able to encode videos that are compatible with the MPEG-4 Simple Profile
and MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile. The pro version
includes resizing, de-interlacing, cropping, and inverse telecine (3:2
pulldown)
directly in the codec.

der MPEG Licencing Administration (MPEG LA) noch nicht Apples Erwartungen

delays and take advantage of the full bandwidth available to he user.
"Corona"
introduces two new professional-level audio and video codecs for Home-Theater-Like
Audio and Video Quality.
The new WMA Professional codec for Web-based delivery of 5.1 channel surround
sound with full-spectrum and full resolution audio. A new version of the
Windows Media Video (WMV) codec now introduces the ability to provide
HDTV-like video quality for local playback on the PC. more

adds suppport for MPEG-4

- Dec. 10, 2001 — RealNetworks announced RealSystem iQ support for
native
MPEG-4. The next release of RealSystem supportes server and client-side
plug-ins of Envivio’s MPEG-4 technology. RealSystem should be also available
to other MPEG-4 technology developers.
